September 5 - Satanik

Well, this has been the longest film festival in 3dmm history!! A full 3 weeks, and now we're finally at the very last movie of the film festival. No surprise, we're saving the best for last!! What hasn't been said about this movie? It received a 10/10 rating by everyone at lockntoad.com and what can I say? Those 10/10 ratings are very well deserved! The movie truly deserves an R rating! Hahaha, you'll be quite shocked at crude certain scenes are, and u'll find yourself questioning your sanity when you laugh at certain moments. This movie is so well directed with an amazing comic book style, with brilliant dialogue and excellent voice acting...arguably the best movie of the year, better than any of last year's movies, and Satanik is likely to go down in history as a true classic!

I REALLY HOPE THIS MOVIE SETS A SHITLOAD OF RECORDS AT THE BOX OFFICE!

Thanks to Zygar for the link

Before I get into the final details about Satanik though, there are quite a few people I need to thank for this film fest being a success! If u're too lazy to read all my thanks, then just skip to where it says, "Back to the movie" in HUGE text. Please review this movie, and vote for it at the box office.

Most of all, Orcus! The guy who was originally the back up boy (was just supposed to hold movies on his computer as a back up) ended up getting waaaay more involved than he was supposed to and make running the film fest a lot easier! Whenever he was called upon to release a movie, he was always 100% dependable. We sometimes had somewhat clashing opinions on how the film fest should be run, but it was great working with Orcus!

I gotta thank Zygar who provided me with webspace for this film fest and had no problem at all with all of us raping his bandwidth! I didn't even ask the guy for it, he just offered it over MSN. Your webspace never gave any problems at all! Thanks Zygar!

Thanks to Rubin Ridley who provided 3dmm.us. I didn't end up using it, due to Rubin being kinda scared that the server would be shut down, but thanks to Rubin for taking the time to set up a film fest account.

Thanks to Aaron Haynes who very often gave very helpful advice about how to run the film fest, kept Justin and Mike under the whip, and for providing his webspace, and for fixing certain problems in Satanik and uploading it for me.

Thanks to Thomas Bown for very last minute changing Satanik from a .rar to a .zip and uploading for me. Bown also did a few uplaods for the film fest, and was the provider for directors who needed to get their movies to me, but had no webspace!

Thanks to Goro who was originally the person who suggested that I be the one to run the film fest.

Thanks to Andres De La Hoz for getting "Satanik" in at August 16 and for not going too nuts for having to wait this god damn long to finally see his movie posted!

Thanks to all those people that frequently updated their websites during the film fest, thanks to everyone that submitted their movies to the film fest, and finally thanks to everyone that frequently downloaded the movies and left your opinions!

If there's anyone that I left out of my thanks, I really apologize. Running this film fest has been quite an enjoyable experience! Certain times I felt very very stressed out, but in general it's been a very nice experience!

I hope you guys have enjoyed the film fest, and I hope that I didn't do too shity of a job running it.

AND NOW BACK TO THE MOVIE.......................

Now that all the thanks are out of the way, the final details about the movie:

Movie title: Satanik
Director: Andres De La Hoz
Genre: Action/Black Comedy
Runtime:: 35 minutes.
Voice cast:: Jaymond, Jon Barton, Snatch, Sammy Sagitarius, Jeff Ching, and more....
File size: 15.1 megs
Brief Synopsis:: Satanik and his accomplice try to pull off the robbery of a famous crown. Along the way, a clever detective engages in a cat-and-mouse game against the criminal, looking to catch him once and for all. (Synopsis from EP)

Finally if u liked the movie, vote for it at the box office!

=====================================
Looking at tomorrow:

Well the film fest is over, but the 3dmm box office report should hopefully be up on Tuesday. (I still need an internet hook up at home)

And just keep checking back. Download movies that u hadn't seen before, and I'll make a few opinion topics here and there.

Oh and the film fest awards will take place next week-end on Saturday, so check back for that.

first post. I made history.

As far as 3DMM goes, this is the best thing ever released, in animation, in story, in direction, and most importantly in style.

This has to be withouth a doubt the most stylish film I have ever had the pleasure of watching, everything in the movie, from the colors Andres used, to the dialouge, to the cool camera effects, is dripping with unique style.

If I could nominate 1 movie to be lengthened and made into a real movie, it would be Satanik, no questions asked.

The story is very cool, sometimes it gets a tad bit confusing, but that could easily be the fact that sometimes the visuals distract from the story. The characters are some of the best I have ever encountered in a 3D movie, and at times you could really feel what the felt, thats how good this movie is.

The dialouge is... amazing, from Satanik's first few lines to his last you can tell what kind of character he is, and as time passes you get to know him even better. The voice acting is very well done as well, Jaymond's especially.

The only real beef I had with this movie was that at times the music seemed a bit weak and out of place, sometimes it worked very well, other times it was very hard to take seriously.

Anyways, this movie is the closest thing to perfection that I've seen in a long time.

9.25/10

Second post.

I think second post is cooler.

EDIT: Here's a review of SATANIK. Excuse my spelling and grammar mistakes.

I've got a belly ache
3D Movies suck. They suck shit. And even balls. I've never really enjoyed watching a 3D Movie. Maybe a little. Ten minutes ago I watched SATANIK. For the first time ever, I felt sympathy for the characters.

Andres De La Hoz, who made the controversial (but somehow very good) 3DMM Manifesto, has made a couple of good movies. I haven't seen A Call To Arms yet, but I thought DHIADW was pretty cool. A good atmosphere. And stuff like that. But, yeah... Andres is a pretty good director.

No. Fuck this. Andres is an excellent director. A Tarantino for 3DMM. Or something. I don't know really. I'm pretty confused at the moment. It's SATANIK's fault. I've got a belly ache. I want to be SATANIK. SATANIK is my hero. SATANIK is my new idol. SATANIK is Michael Jackson. SATANIK is Adolf Hitler. SATANIK is Simone de Beauvoir. SATANIK is Tage Danielsson (an awesome Swedish writer). SATANIK is Beavis and Butthead. SATANIK will never come down.

This movie contains many impressive things. It makes me stare. In 172, I just wanted to be SATANIK. I was the perfect human being. Or maybe not even a human being. This is weird. I'd rather start all over again. This is getting nowhere.

Beautiful colors. Wanted to touch it. There was a computer screen in the way.

When I started to watch this film, I thought "Ah, shit, Jaymond. Pretty tired of that guy. He's acting in every movie... baaah...". A few minutes later I changed my mind. Jaymond is perfect as SATANIK's voice. Excellent. The laughing in the ending made me puke. True purity.

Okay... I have written a lot of nonsense now maybe. But... this is how I feel. I'm fucking chocked. Maybe I should leave this town. I'm gay.

It feels like, if I'd throw this movie away, it would just float away in the air. Like a fucking cloud. I'm serious.

Andres, congratulations. You've made the strangest 3D Movie in 3DMM history. That's awesome. Now go and die, motherfucker.

I love SATANIK.

9.9/10

Oh... and... I laughed when I heard my voice in this. I'm proud of it actually. Even if you didn't mention me in the credits.

Just to jump in before the thread gets really huge.

People, PLEASE. REVIEW THIS MOVIE. A simple score and a one-line comment will not do it justice. Take some time and share your thoughts. This is 3DMM history in the making, but more importantly for now, it's Andres's last film and if he gets all these really tiny posts with non-justified ratings, he's gonna fucking flip. Take some time and share your opinions. You don't have to be a fantastic writer, it doesn't have to be incredibly well-edited, just say what you liked/didn't like if you don't feel like you can write a 'proper' review.

Thanks,

Aaron.

This was amazing. For one, the scenery, which brings the comic book stylings to life. Speaking of which, I speak on behalf of the TO2 team when I say "YOU WIN".

For second, the voice acting. Jaymond pulled off a stellar "cocky sonofabitch" as Satanik, with some truly disturbing remarks ("I fucked her throat until she suffocated...") added for hilarity. My only complaint was that Snatch's lines were a bit fuzzy at times, and Jon, while good as always, was a bit too loud to suit the movie.

And thirdly, 35 minutes. Fucking christ.

I didn't know what to expect when I downloaded this, but it's certainly quite good. I'm not sure which is better, Pamela or this, I think I like them equally.

TOP MARKS.

I'm guessing that 'figure holding what appears to be a stretched cube' in Pamela was SATANIK. Correct?

Well, expecting a lot from this movie mostly because it's work from Andres and because of all the hype that people created, I sat watching, eager to be stunned and such from the film. I'll start where this movie shines, then talk about what I didn't like later. Well, first off, I'll start with the plot, although quite linear at times, the story is solid, works well and is interesting, and kept me watching throughout. The voices were generally great and well done, although sometimes I thought 'that could've been said better' or something to that extent. Whoever did Dana's voice was good, but I thought most of her lines could of been done better, although maybe that's just me. Jaymond & Jon were awesome side by side, and the phone conversation worked really well, as they played off eachother remarkably well and it sounded like an real conversation, not just voices slapped together. I never really noticed the music, except for one song that I recognised, and i found myself missing a few scenes cause I was trying to remember what the bloody song was. But yeah, I say not noticing the music is a sign of a good soundtrack, as the music is to accompany the film, not the other way around (ie. like a music video). The animation at 99% of the time was great, and the shots of Rome were visually beautiful. One thing that I really loved was the wacky camera's, showing just squares of the scenes throughout the movie, one time this really shines is when we're shown two different angles of Satanik sneaking up on a security guard. I thought that was really well done. The dialogue was brilliant, especially near the end, and the ending was really something I wasn't expecting.

Now, it's hard to give criticism on this, seeming as it's a cult classic in 3dmm history, but i'll try. The shakey camera's were a bit tedious sometimes, and also the way people talked, they seemed to move about loads then just stop, as if they were being paused. And Jaymond's laugh at the end sounded nothing like Satanik's voice throughout (still love you ). And the almighty thing that pissed me off was the use of default screams. I just hate when they're used cause it reminds me of older movies and stuff. Anybody needing screams in 3dmm movies - ASK ME. Aaron and Orcus will tell you I can do a damn good job. But yeah, you can see i'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel to criticise, haha. I just wish I could have had a bigger part in this and be down in 3dmm history. Ahh, well, maybe next time.

The song at the end was great, but next time, let me make a beat . And thanks for the mention, Jay, you sexy loveable hunk of man, you.

5/5
