"Confidence" short film by JP

I'm not really sure how much exposure these smaller releases have been getting (Mellow Films: Ch 1 & this), but I'm gonna keep makin em.

There's not really a story here--just a little concept I suppose. I also got to take some different approaches to animation & test some stuff out.

Anyway, here it is--3 days in the making:

http://home.start.no/~farnoy/movies/confidence.zip
(thanks to Fred Arnoy for the upload)

& be sure to read the included short director's notes

That was pretty damn cool, excelent music, the scenary was a bit basic, and everything looked really similar, but it doesn't matter, looks really intresting.

Thanks.

Y'know, it's getting harder and harder to get feedback these days. If anyone downloads the movie, just let me know what ya think--for better or worse. I'm just curious.

Definitely not showcasing your full potential in any respects, but giving a very good sampling of it. Beautifully crafted in a dark, dreary, creepy manner, the mood is as good as any movie one could expect from JP. There is a bit of a message there, and, I must add, being of the same class as JP, I understand and agree totally.

An above-decent watch; pleasing for it's runtime. Not really offering anything new visually, but comes with a decent 'story.' Probally deserving of an 8 or higher, but I've got a headache, so everyone's gonna' suffer with me. Darn tootin'

It reminded me of that old Apple commercial for some reason.
Anyway, I agree with Santiago.

Alright, that's pretty cool. I'm glad you're all liking it.

Yeah, the animation is pretty simple I s'pose. In all honesty though, I actually kinda liked it (with the exception of when the buildings kinda 'smudged'). I've always liked that sorta style--keeps me moving along with the film and interested in completing it.

Anyway-- My shorter films (including the upcoming Manhattan Folds & the first episode of Lost Theater will have about the same level of animation--well, Manhattan Folds to an even lesser extent. I'm testing out some new story-telling ideas and things like that.

By the way, I should also add that I'll be keeping up with my little bit of animation and camerawork, but I'm expecting Santiago & Steele to blow by me in a rocket ship with their animation... perhaps that's why I'm testing out some new story-telling ideas.

This is Definitely not one of your best, but this movie delivers everything to nice camera angels, to good music that fits the mood.

Cool, movie. The scenery wasn't as good as it was in Doom, but I still liked it. 8/10

Kinda interesting to see--the non-3dmmers have had a better response to this movie than my others.

My best friend IMed me and said it reminded him of the troubles he had with his then 'girlfriend-to-be,' going through a depressing time--taking his frustrations out on his family & living to regret it.

Again--it was made in 3 days--so.. well, yeah. More of a sentimental movie than one to pay too much attention to the animation.

Not that I'm unhappy with the feedback--it's been getting a fairly good response.

Thanks to everyone who left a comment. Much appreciated =).

Not bad JP, this reminds me of my single sadness and how I overcame it.

"You are all you have", a justified statement...

I of course graduated already, so I know what you went through. A very very justifiable movie. I graduated from Cascade High School in Everett, Washington (Near Seattle) and our school did a real shitty-assed job of "preparing us for life" so when we were told that now after twelve years of "life", we have to go out and "live" - everyone was like 'what the fuck do we do now?' I live in California with my girlfriend now, and it's like "How the hell do I do taxes?" and "Why didn't they teach us how to do ANYTHING EXCEPT WRITE SCHOLARLY PAPERS?!?" Everything else comes in time- you just have to pay attention to what's going on. I'm learning now how to do my taxes, (found out I already did them wrong before). Keep your ears open and you'll absorb whatever you need to know. Unless you're going to college- than you've a few years before you have to worry about it.

Anyway- enugh of my wisdom and shiat. Excelent movie- great animation- I loved the "All you have is yourself" that stays as the rest of the frame fades away, than the guy is standing all alone.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Thumbs up!!!!

Dead on. This may be the 'simplest' film I've released, but I have to say that I've gotten some of the most satisfying reactions.

I'm glad you took the time to write that, Entity. That means a lot.
