Simulated Physics in 3DMM

Using a rigid body on a cube for simulation, I exported the transform values per 3DMM frame (6~ frames per second) and I've managed to import those to a path in 3D Movie Maker. I thought it was pretty neat. I wanna drop a car or a totem pole next.

Apologies about the audio, I must be camera shy or something.

yes, this. it'd be cool to see a whole cascade of blocks, or something like an explosion effect where the pieces bounce of the ground (<< that last one might be tricky i dont really know how this works). those would have huge implications for making movies, imagine the effects you could do with a waterfall or a window shattering

That shouldn't be very hard, I'll make another demo when I've got one.

Here's a video showing a bit more of my process atm. The only drawback is that all objects need to be placed at the exact same origin in the scene, else their paths will just be offset from each other.

This has taken me a bit to wrap my head around.

3DMM appears to use a different coordinate system than Unity for starters. Something is still wrong in this clip here (position on the near/far axis), but I think I at least got the rotations correct. The car flips forward now whereas earlier tests had it torpedoing.

Next, ragdoll physics in 3DMM. Jk, although a handmade character could definitely undergo some physics, I wonder how that would look... (Waits for you)

It does seem probable. You can already sort of do it with good actor fonts animation.
