Another tool for 3dmm (for webmasters mainly)

I finally wrote the tool that 3dmmAP2 was supposed to be (sorta)

It's called Spider, and it takes a screenshot of the 3dmm window and saves the screenshot to a file.

It saves as jpeg, and can also resize the image before saving (for making thumbnails)

You use it by making a shortcut to the EXE, and specifying the filename on the command line like this:
spider movie1.jpg 75 144 0

That saves the current 3dmm window (minus all the tools and such) to a file called movie1.jpg, at 75% quality, at 144x81 pixels (The 81 part is calculated from the width)

You can also just do:
spider movie1.jpg

To save a full sized image to movie1.jpg

Here's the downloads:
tremble.3dmm.org (306k)
3dmm2.com (306k) (slow)

(I'm going to add a feature that lets you save several images in a row, and have them named filename_01.jpg, filename_02.jpg,filename_03.jpg and so on. I just haven't done it yet.)

Some hints about using the program:
  • You can actually save as file types other than JPEG,but I don't support it AT ALL. So if you try to save as a PNG/BMP/GIF/TGA/TIFF and it doesn't work, I'm not going to help you. Sorry.
  • 3dmm must be visible when you run the program. It's a limitation of Windows.
  • You can set a hot-key on the shortcut, and it'll work while 3dmm is running. (just like AP2)
  • If you run the program without any parameters, it'll pop up a dialog describing them. Handy if you can't remember what options exist.
  • If you have -b as the last parameter, it'll use higher quality scaling when it resizes. (If you use -b, you must also do quality and width & height, or it won't work)

Tom, I can't see why; they work perfectly for me.

Anyway, this is really cool. Webmasters no longer have to do all of the editing, and we can make posters easily now!

ok, I don't know how to use this.

I click it, a window pops up with some info, I click ok, and nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong?

Big weird thank-you bump. Lock 'n Toad updates would take ages without this.

You have to have XP set to windows classic for it to work.

2.7 is a totally different... system or something, so all of the add-ons have to be re-written. Needless to say, I'll just stick with 2.6 until I see reason enough to change

Not really a totally different system, everything looks the same and works the same way. But the coodinates of mouseclicks start at the corner of the actual 3dmm window space instead of the top corner of the border. It also supports any version of 3DMM and works with XP.

The links to Travis's "Spider" are dead. Can anyone direct me to an active download link?

Thanks
