She took a question about potential weaknesses and explained what her supposed strengths were. Let's see if Ifill or Biden follows up on that.

Edit: Nope. Biden at least acknowledged what the question was about before launching into a description of his own strengths.

e: I wish I kept a count on "partisanship." It's up to at least 10.

e2: Biden on the attack about "maverick"

She was too vague about everything to fall on her face like I was expecting, but Biden did GREAT. I loved that speech about how Mccain was "not" a maverick on any issue.

agreed, Palin didn't do great, but she didn't fucking fail hard, which is what I expected. She really held her own, and she's going to win over idiot undecideds

Biden on the other hand, I love him even more now, he's just great

Everything she said sounded like it was recited from memory. Very vague. I don't know how anyone (die hard republicans) can say she won that debate. But Biden wiped the floor with her in response to the whole maverick thing.

I got the impression that she came in as Sarah Palin playing "Sarah Palin, folksy hockey mom".

She was rehearsed, calculated, and gimmicky. She was sure to insert these "adorable" gosh-darns and betchas and I know I'm an outsiders at the right moments. And at least one moment it came off as a downright fucked-up reference to Biden's dead wife. It was "cute" moments, buzzwords and phrases, and already-refuted arguments. It was a performance, often unrelated to the actual questions, and not substantive or subject to scrutiny. She got the words right, but not the music.

Biden started out a little weak, but was compelling as the debate went on. He held back a lot, probably a smart idea, but got the appropriate hits in.

She didn't collapse under her own ignorance and the debate-floor lights, she spoke in mostly complete sentences, and even managed to make a few cogent arguments, so Republicans will call this a stunning victory. But something about it was off, even kind of creepy, like a Stepford candidate. If you go through her answers, you can see where talking points and buzzwords fill in the gaps. Less obvious than in the incoherent responses to her interviews, but still there if you look.

She is not ready for this job.

yeah agreed, but otherwise I think he was excellent. Palin was certainly not bad, and way overperformed relative to my expectations.

That thing Biden said about filling up a tank of gas I liked.

Yeah. I have to say, as the debates go on, I end up barely listening to what they are actually talking about, and instead focus on their mannerisms etc, but GEEZ. Palin was CONSTANTLY doing that cute thing! And I bet there are so many people that like her just cause of her cuteness. It pissed me off so much watching it. That one question where she just went all-out on the cuteness, "Oh gosh darnit Joe, say it ain't so Joe" etc, WTF.

And it sucks cause Biden HAS to smile in response to her cuteness, or he appears mean. I kinda hate the debates and how based on appearance they are.

I can't believe we have someone that's like that running for vice president. It's like I'm watching a bad movie.
