A Clockwork Forum
Cubert's Avatar
Plot Summary:
A 3dmm twist on Stanley Kubrik's "A Clockwork Orange".

This is the third movie of The Short Film Festival of 2006

Today's movie is brought to you by Cubert.

Cubert; I slammed this together in a couple of days, it won't change your life but you do get to see some 2d characters beat each other up. It's unfinished but I think that's a good thing, christ knows how I would adapt "that" scene. Try and watch this like you eat a Big Mac. Kind of a quick, dirty little disposable pleasure.

Oh shit yeah, another thing, this film contains a vxp prop called "Knife", it was made a while ago before I knew about the horrors of double vxp names.

I made a typo in the link. I can no longer edit the post, so I'll just post the right one here.

Downloading. Will edit later to comment.
I can provide mirrors for all the movies in a few days, when I get broadband back.

Haha, I really liked that. Especially Alex; Well well well, if it isn't fat, stinkin', "Stops at scene 3" Tholis and his gang of
greasy aussie chums. Come and get one in the yarbles, that is if y' have any yarbles!
.
The first thought that crossed my mind was Gah, the scene is broken.
Great job.

I don't know what to say that isn't really negative. I've never seen the movie you based this on, and I don't really intend to. As far as this movie, I dunno, but everyone started out making movies of this quality, so keep at it. Ya put in some effort, you made a bunch of expansions (in paint, though), the fight scenes weren't horrible, so ye.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Like I say it was done pretty quickly, but yeah Denny I definately intend to keep up 3dmm, as I have for the last 6 years of my life, and you really should see 'Orange, it's like one of the best films ever.

Oh, and I want to point out again that I don't have anything against, well anyone, I know I dropped a few names and stereotyped a continent of people but it's all just a joke. Obviously I'm not ripping on newbies because, well, I'm Cubert. And Tholis was just a name that sprung to mind, nothign against the guy, I even gave him some other expansions about a month ago he could use.

The HMCs were kinda cool I guess, but the animation lacked a great deal of fluidity, which for simplified HMCs such as these, is kind of essential. There's a few exceptions, like Scene 24 is kinda neat, and somehow scene 21 works in its own bizarre way as well. But overall, kinda rough, especially for the likes of scene 15 where the vet has his little 'Stinkin World' monologue while everything remains perfectly static. He really should move his head slightly or something at least. I saw he had a mouth at one point, but it didn't really work for the character style, and in all honesty it looked better after you jettisoned it.

The actual content was pretty lame as well, but then again, in all fairness I've never actually seen a good Clockwork Orange parody in any form....which is a pity, cuz I really like the actual film.

"Stops-at-scene-three Tholis" was kinda cool though.

Yeah the short kind of stands on that one line. Thanks for the advise, I knew leaving that lame ass mouth in would later be regretted. If it wasn't as rushed some of the things you mentioned would have been fixed, however making the characters move realistically, or at least stylisticaly, is something I openly admit having difficulty with. And purely to improve my Kubrik-fan ranking I would like to know who actually did the "March for 'Elizabeth" theme. Or is it like some lame thing like it should be Alfman or whatever.

As a hearty fan of A Clockwork Orange in all its forms, I probably wasn't going to enjoy this. But I thought it was pretty alright.

#1. Best advice I can give is that when any one piece of a HMC moves, the other connected bits should move accordingly, if just a little. A good case-in-point would be Grascadax in AV3. I'm not quite sure how this'd work for limbless models like in this. I'd guess Anders would probably be the best guy to ask really.

#2. It's spelled "Kubrick"

#3 The Moog-Synth stuff in Clockwork Orange was done by Wendy Carlos, although if you want to be picky, that particular track was a remake of the Funeral of Queen Mary March (or something) by Henry Purcell

Thanks I'll check that out (The AV3 thing). And on the Kubrick spelling; fuck. I don't know how long I've been doing that, which is more worrying than makes sense.
