noobish question

When you download a mod... and it has 3 files in it.... what do you do with the three files?

delete them.

It means you have extracted the file by mistake.

For the mod to work you need to download it as a vxp file.

...download it, change the extension from .zip (or .rar) to .vxp. It should work. If there is no extention on the zip folder, you have to go into my computer, tools, folder options, view, un-tick 'hide extensions for known file types'.

(I only worked this out a while ago)

what if it's .cfg or .3th or .3cn?

zip them and rename the zip as a vxp. To change file extensions:

Open a folder > Tools > Folder Options > View > Untick 'Hide extensions for known file types'. Then use rename.
