Doesn't look as good as you'd think it would.

And my solid-colour paint stuff looks shit when you use it.

Superdings 2, anything from the J to P range. L1L1L1L1L1L1 in a circle seems to make neat spraying blood splatters. And solid color red lightning bolts shrunk down are great for headshots.

Used to use the flat leaf pile object in Superdings for blood splatter on the ground, but it flickers too much on camera pans in any direction but left-right. I use I in Superdings 2 instead now.

Btw, the E and F objects are about as polyintensive as " in Superdings 1. Keep that in mind.

Directional explosion with Aaron's gore texture works decent as well.

This is an old trick i have seen Tuna use for blood

It looks quite good actually maybe good for a dramatic slow panning or zooming in shot.

Its actually Pat and bongo placed behind them pat all squashed and using her hair.

Of course with v3dmm you can do far more edvanced things than that now.

Yeah, but Saving Granny's Purse only used Pat, and then again - it was very apparant that it was. You used the method in a much more subtle way.

haha, I only used Bongo because Martha's (Pat?) shoulders were poking out and I didn't want the same red texture to go over them

I used this technique quite alot in my films. Though I used different things in place of the asterixes like letters, numbers, and other symbols usually just to try and make some blood stains and effects look a bit unique each time. I also used alot of different 3d fonts for my blood and gore sometimes when I felt like the blood could've been a bit fatter and had less gaps in the blood (GILL SANS ULTRA BOLD) or maybe if I wanted it a bit smaller and thinner (COMIC SANS). It's best to try out different numbers, letters and symbols and vary caps lock on them until you find you get the best effect. Using the "FLIP LETTERS" animation until you get it at the right angle is also recommended here.

Here's one quick example

4rty (Use COMIC SANS font and flip letters until they are completely flat.)

I also accompany blood and gore effects like those by flattening out some 3D spheres, turning them red, and shrinking them down if I wish to add some blood stain spots here and there.

If you want blood around a dead body, you just put the person lying down, grab a red sphere, squish it down till it can't be squished down anymore...then put it under the dead body.

Who in God's name is Pat? Is she called Pat in some versions? cause I know her as good old Martha.

uhhhm.... superdings 2 has tons of blood spray type things. Like F G J K L M N. Just make it red for a sort of blood explosion. The more severe the wound is, the more you add. And then make I O P N and make them flesh color. It´s a cool effect.

Small red exploding spheres seem to work well for splattering blood for impacts such as gunshots and strong punches, if done correctly. But they have to be small or the 'confetti' will be too large. And it's probably a good idea to start on frame 2 and make it move in the same direction as the blast, just to avoid looking very awkward.
