couldn't you have just asked in the last thread rather than making a new one?

but other than that, I don't remember, it's been a long time.

and.. isn't download and save basically the same thing in this case?

Lemme get this straight.. you went to some website, found a quake 2 model, and downloaded it. Right?

if I remember correctly all you have to do is save the file somewhere in your 7gen directory, and just use the convert quake 2 models function..?

Yeah. 3dmm can't use the Quake model directly, so you have to download 7Gen from here and convert the Quake model to a .vxp file (a v3dmm expansion). Then you can just put it in the Expansions folder and it should work.

Not without several stages of model conversion, and even then most of those have way too high a polycount and are also static, so don't expect anything animated.

Even if they were animated you'd have to re-format them all properly in an MD2 which would take a great deal of understanding and experience in 3D modelling and animating.

So if you can get them in a format like OBJ, I believe Milkshape imports those, and then you can export them in MD2.

However some of those Turbosquid models don't have textures as well, so you may have to make your own textures.

Texturing you would do in a 3rd party application like Maya or 3D Studio Max.

As for animations, those need to be animated in a 3rd party 3D program as well, and ultimately need to be implemented via 3DMM Pencil.

But for cars and such, like the ones you're looking at, you might be better off just keeping the models as static objects. For 20 Bucks Later all I did was add a motion-blurred texture to the protagonist's hummer to give the illusion of movement.

downloading programs like Maya, Milkshape, or 3d Studio Max is illegal, and not condoned here.

look man, doing the stuff you want to do here requires a lot of knowledge of 3D modeling programs, way more than you clearly have. I admire your dedication, but you're probably better off just limiting yourself to the mods already available on this site. after all, we all managed for 8 or so years without any mods at all...seems like there should be more than enough already for whatever movie project you want to make.
