Adding new costumes in Pencil

Can someone please make a short tutorial on this? Any custom models that I make can only have 1 costume, and I'm not quite sure which pencil files to edit to add my own TMAPs so that they read as new costumes. Pulling apart other vxp's dosnt seem to be helping either... please?

http://www.3dmm.com/showthread.php?t...=pencil+andres ?

I'll try this one, thanks guys

EDIT: Yeah that thread only shows you how to edit existing textures using pencil. What I'm trying to do, is add completely new cosumes to a prop that currently only has 1.

Adding Costumes with Pencil++

Nakita has 4 shirts normally. If you want her to have 5, then READ THIS(you should be able to apply this knowledge to other costumes too).

*YOU WILL NEED 7gen and Pencil++
*I will be refering to quads as such: QUAD:ID i.e. CMTL:105 would be the CMTL with the ID 105.

1) Actorextract Nakita using 7gen. I'm not sure if tilesheets will screw this up or not, so leave them turned off.

2) Open up your *.3cn file with Pencil++, and export a copy of a CMTL and MTRL.

3) Now look at CMTL:105. This is the first costume file for her shirt. It's made up of 5 MTRLs, and therefore 5 seperate textures. This means that any costume that we make for Nakita's torso will also need 5 textures, referenced in the same order. Otherwise some BMDL would have no texture, and 3dmm wouldn't load it correctly.

4) Scroll to the bottom of the file, and create a new CMTL quad with a unique ID (Using the big "+" button). Now import that CMTL file that we saved over top of this new quad.

5) Now we've got to create our 5 MTRLs, and do the same. Import the exported MTRL over each one.

6) NOW, we've got to create our 5 TMAPs. View/Edit each of the TMAPs, and it'll ask you if you want to create a valid TMAP section. Say yes.

7) View/Edit each TMAP and import your textures.

8) BACK TO THE CMTL. Add a reference to each MTRL within the CMTL.

9) TO THE MTRLS!!! Within each MTRL, add a reference to one of the TMAPs. Also, you may need to reference the correspondng TXXF file.

Look back at CMTL:105 again. The first MTRL referenced is MTRL:1435, with a ref ID of 0. This MTRL links to a TMAP (and no TXXF) with the image of the front of Nakita's torso.

You'll have to keep this same organization within your new CMTL. The first referenced MTRL will have a refID of 0, and will link to the TMAP of the front of Nakita's torso.

If you look at the other MTRLs referenced by CMTL:105, you'll notice that some of them are referencing a TXXF file. This is some sort of textire coordinate file, so you may need to reference the same TXXFs in your new MTRLs for the textures to wrap correctly.

10) Add a reference to your new CMTL in the TMPL. Try and recognize the order that quads are referenced in, as your new CMTL will have to fit in to it.

IE:
CMTL:115:13
ACTN:321:14 (Grow)
BMDL:1123:14
CMTL:116:14
ACTN:322:15 (Grow Fast)
BMDL:1124:15
CMTL:73953:15
ACTN:323:16 (Jump)
BMDL:1125:16
ACTN:324:17 (Karate Kick)

You should be able to figure out where your new CMTL fits into this. It will be REFID 16, and will go directly before the Karate Kick ACTN.

Note that the CMTL we've been copying from, CMTL:105, has a REFID of 1.

11. View/Edit the GGCM. This file assigns CMTLs to different parts of the actor's body. REFID 1 is contained within the second bodyset, therefore our new CMTL does as well. Add a reference to CMTL REFID 16.

12. Apply/Save all your work.

I Love you. Thank you so much. I was close with how I was tinkering, but yeah, that made everything much clearer.
