Why don't you like Jay Mohr? Just curious.

Crazy Ivan
04-14-04, 06:27 PM
If you ever saw Jay Mohr's recent hour-long special you'd think he was funnier, Qaz. And I agree, David Cross should be much, much higher on the list. Who do you guys think will be number one? It has to be someone historically significant, so my guess will be someone like Richard Pryor or Lenny Bruce.

Melrose Let Down
04-14-04, 06:30 PM
Pryor probably... maybe Bill Cosby.

I plan on watching the next installment, which I think is at 9pm tonight.

Crazy Ivan
04-14-04, 06:34 PM
Actually, my gut tells me it will be Pauly Shore.

I'm betting on Carrot Top, myself.

Melrose Let Down
04-14-04, 06:41 PM
I'll be completely honest....

I recall laughing at Carrot top's stand up about 8 years ago. I don't know if I would still find it funny, but when I was 11, I thought it was.

Qaz
04-14-04, 06:45 PM
It's mostly the Jay Mohr in movies I don't like I find him very annoying and very unfunny. He just seems to ruin most movies he's in and he's a very bad actor.

Jay Mohr the comedian, I don't know much about....that's by choice. I've only seen him do a few things, but he was the host of the Comedian reality show which makes me hate him even more. How the hell can someone that unfunny host a comedy show?

He seriously needs me to punch him in the FACE! But I guess knowing that he's "86" is alright...it could be worse

Melrose Let Down
04-14-04, 06:48 PM
He has a new show. I think it's on comedy central.
I watched 10 minutes of it and thought it was stupid, but pretty funny. I had to go though, so I couldn't hang around to see the rest.

My prediction for the top 5

1. Bill Cosby
2. George Carlin
3. Chris Rock
4. Jerry Seinfeld
5. Tony Teulan

So help me god if Paul Reiser makes the list I'm gonna...um...I'm gonna complain about it a lot in this thread

Darren Palumbo
04-14-04, 09:42 PM
I like Pablo Francisco and Dane Cook.

04-14-04, 09:45 PM
What the shit is Andrew Dice Clay doing there?

04-14-04, 09:47 PM

Okay, terrific.

Melrose Let Down

I expect Jeff Foxworthy to be in the top 5. He is the best selling stand up comedian of all time.

I also hope sinbad gets a good ranking, he rules.

Amen.

Personally, my top five stand-up comedians would be:

1. Bill Hicks
2. Jimeoin
3. Tripod (which is actually a trio, but yeah)
4. Andrew Dice Clay
5. Chris Rock

During the promos for this special they flash a bunch of names up on the screen, and one of the most prominent is Adam Sandler. I didn't even know Sandler did stand up, I thought his specialty was staring in crummy movies with identicle storylines and that Rob Schneider fellow playing the idiot sidekick.

Melrose Let Down
04-14-04, 10:52 PM
WTF? Sinbad is way down there? He may not very famous these days, but the man was frikin huge about 10 years ago. It's ridiculous to think that he would be near the bottom of the list. He had a lot of cultural influence too. I would have him in the top 10.

I noticed that also. And he isnt on the list yet, so he must be up higher.

I'm betting that they are simply going to put the big name guys on the top... like Jim Carrey. His stand up is horrible, but hey... he's Jim Carrey...

Qaz
04-14-04, 10:54 PM
Yeah I'm a big Bill Hicks fan too. He'd be on my top ten list for sure. He's getting more and more recognition and respect each year...people are starting to catch on.

George Carlin
Kenan Ivory Wayans

42. Flip Wilson
43. Dave Chappelle
44. Joan Rivers
45. Richard Lewis
46. Adam Sandler
47. Henny Youngman
48. Tim Allen

54. DL Hughley
55. Alan King
56. Colin Quinn
57. Richard Jeni
58. Larry Miller
59. Gilbert Gottfried
60. Jeff Foxworthy

This is CRAP, Lewis Black, Dave Chappelle and Denis Leary should all be top 20 for sure...maybe not Chappelle but I thought he would cause he's got his own show on CC.

I'm thinking there are going to be a lot of old school comedians in the top 20

WORST LIST EVER.

Has anyone ever heard Tim Allens stand up? I thought it would be funny because Home Improvement makes me laugh... but Tim Allens stand up is some of the worst stand up ever.

And Jeff Foxworthy at #60? The best selling, and most successful comedian of all time... #60? How is it even possible that he is not in the top 10?

I disagree, have you see Blue Collar Comedy Tour? It's really funny, and only a tiny portion of his act was 'you might be a redneck' stuff.

Also, does anyone think Bill Mahr will be on the list? I know he does standup, but I think we would have seen him by now if he was on there. I wouldn't consider him in the top 25, but I love his new show on HBO.

Melrose Let Down
04-15-04, 10:41 PM
I'm not saying that I think he's all that great. But it's hard to deny that he has millions of fans who keep buying his dvd's and going to his shows.

Meh, I guess that's a stuid argument though, cause a lot of people go to limp bizkit concerts, but that doesn't make them suck any less. Whatever, I'm not a big Jeff Foxworthy fan anways, I just find it odd that he is so far down.

And yes, the Blue Collar comedy tour is pretty damn funny, except Bill Engval, whom I dont like.

Qaz
04-15-04, 10:49 PM
I haven't seen Blue Comedy Tour, but all the Foxworthy stuff I've seen is pretty funny, and I know it's not all you might be a redneck, but it's almost all reckneck type jokes.

Like Margaret Cho (who better not be in the top 20) where she pretty much just does asian jokes. And Chappelle who just does black jokes.

And I thought of Bill Mahr too, he's alright but I hope he doesn't make the list, but if so I'm hoping for #40

Melrose Let Down
04-15-04, 10:51 PM
