It's been awhile since we have brought you any updates on the Gnomes DVD. But fear not, we've been working steadily but greatly on the dvd. We are releasing it on October 31st. And shipping will be on November 1st.
http://www.lockntoad.com/ramza/samplefront.jpg
Why Should I Preorder the DVD? Good question, and a fair one. Well first of all, to add it to your dvd collection! If you enjoyed the film and finally want to see it presented professionally, nows your chance. We've added boat loads of extra features that a 3dmm file just wont cut.
I Didn't Say I Wasn't Going to Buy it. But Pre-ordering it? Fair enough. If you preorder the dvd, we can get an accurate sum of how much we are going to print on the first load. You can get your dvd right after it's released, and not have to wait for a second batch to be produced. And another great benefit of preordering is we wave shipping costs (Only inside the US).
Furthur Detail About the DVD Edition of Gnomes:
The Gnomes DVD is presented in 3 different modes. We have completely remastered the soundtrack into:
Dolby Digital 5.1,
DTS ES 5.1,
and a Double Commentary with Myself, and Mike Storch.
The resolution of the film itself has also been altered to fit a special HDTV format, not pixelated or too blurry for viewing.
It is now in multi-region format, and we are shipping all over the
world.
We've also packed it with bonus features, deleted scenes, viewable story boards, ect. ect.

They wanted me to change the entire story around. Add sex scenes, and teen drug use. And a bunch of other bullshit. So I said I'd think about it. Which in other words, means I don't want to kill my career before it starts.

Ramza Brave

yeah, but that's only cause of international shipping. We really arn't making a profit out of any of this. Otherwise we'd charge $30. But we'd rather everyone just HAVE the dvd. But we couldn't pay for it out of our own pockets. We're also hoping to start a trend, and have more people do this sorta thing. It's pretty cool when you think about it.

I guess I could spend that... maybe.

i checked earlier, its just under £9. So in total it would be less than a tenner i guess (due to the cost of sending a letter to America, which i'm gonna go down and find out how much that is tommorow).

Fair use is defined as personal, non-commercial, generally private (as opposed to public) use. Copyright law gives Microsoft exclusive rights to manufacture, distribute, and create derivative works (such as stories using 3D Movie Maker characters) for public performance or display. (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;143268)
and
How long does a copyright last?
The term of copyright for a particular work depends on several factors, including whether it has been published, and, if so, the date of first publication. As a general rule, for works created after Jan. 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For an anonymous work, a pseudonymous work, or a work made for hire, the copyright endures for a term of 95 years from the year of its first publication or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first. For works first published prior to 1978, the term will vary depending on several factors. To determine the length of copyright protection for a particular work, consult chapter 3 of the Copyright Act (title 17 of the United States Code). More information on the term of copyright can be found in Circular 15a, Duration of Copyright, and Circular 1, Copyright Basics. (http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-duration.html#duration)
Microsoft are the only ones that can distribute 3dmm movies, and itll be that way for a long time(unless he's making no profit at all, i think). Not that they'd ever find out about this/care.
It's actually MICROSOFT KIDS that owns it, and that branch.. well doesn't exist. but I suppose it'd still last "70 years", but yeah. no one cares.
Ramza Brave
09-29-04, 03:46 AM
yeah, I appreciate the informaties. But Microsoft has enough money. I'm not really making any profit, this money just covers distribution and shipping costs.

Honestly, dude, is someone made a movie EXCLUSIVELY for DVD, and didn't release the .3mm to the community, he'd only be wasting his time.

I didn't mean it to be out of order man, i was just saying if I like, loved the film i'd buy it. Horror in 3dmm doesn't turn out too great. Gnomes was good, but not a favourite. That's at least worth $25.00!

Yeah, but along with special features, high quality sounds and music, subtitles, commentary (If we could compromise with the directors), and most importantly, portable watching (If you have access to a DVD player and stuff), it'd definitely be worth all the money.

New High Quality DVD Enhanced Version
AUDIO
Instead of working with the audio recorded and placed into the 3dmm file itself. We've re-sequenced most of the original soundtrack into seperate channels for surround sound. Although that cannot be heard through this, the quality can.
http://www.lockntoad.com/ramza/g1loq.mp3
Original 3dmm Audio Track

Remastered DVD Audio Track
So there you have it. The smallest yet, most important specs about this DVD package. But with the amount of additional special features, this DVD is a DON'T MISS.
So by the video being enhanced you mean blurred?
Ramza Brave
10-02-04, 09:30 PM
It looks better on the TV, trust me. The normal 3dmm one looks horrible blown up. We didn't juse blur it, we had to make it so the text could be read as well.
Aaron Haynes
10-02-04, 09:31 PM
Gotta agree with Klown on video, but the audio is awesome. And the video compression is still a bit better than I was expecting.

"This is 3DMM history!"
Actually, its not. The first people to do this were those Pimp Lando guys. ;)
P.S. I think if you employe voice actors (and if you plan on selling a DVD) you should pay them, because they worked on the film to. :)

Unfortunately, I've been worrying about the same thing. Ramza in his lucid moments is a good person, intelligent, resourceful, and easy to talk to. But when he goes berserk, his judgement and objective reasoning absolutely fucking disappear and he ends up saying and doing things he regrets horribly when he comes back from la-la land. Like, and I'm sorry to say it, refusing to send the Gnomes DVDs out of spite for the community.
I really, truly hope it won't ever be the case, but I wouldn't put it beyond him to do it if he let his anger get the best of him again. Ramza, please be true to your word in the DGP thread, keep your cool, and make sure you get these out as soon as possible. Not because I think you're going to wig out again, but because they're months late and the people who ordered them deserve them.

I still appreciate every order and every piece of encouragement to get these things out. And let me stress, I never EVER at any point decided to not send these out. Business is business; I don't let it get in the way of personal issues. On the 31st of this month, I'm going to issue a return and refund form available on my website. If anyone is interested in filing a return, I will refund the full amount as requested. However, if you chose to wait just a LITTLE bit longer, you will recieve the DVD in it's full awe and beauty. I can only apologize for now, and stress that I have been working on this thing for along time. It's almost finished, and it shouldn't be long before I release it. Thanks for bringing it up though.
