View Full Version : New Sound Tag

A new sound tag has been added to provide support to more browsers.
Internet Explorer still behaves the same way, and uses the ActiveX controls provided with Windows Media Player.
If you use any other browser, the quicktime plugin will be used, assuming you have quicktime installed on your computer. If you do not, then a simple link is displayed, much like you had before.
New Tag: "SND"

Special thanks to Travis Wells for writing this script.

Thank FUCK! FINALLY, I can use/hear sounds without hitting the quote button and copying/pasting.
Thank you Goat.

I will work on a way to change all the current snd2 tags to snd, and then get rid of that old tag.

Go into quicktime and make sure you set the MIME settings properly to work with audio and stuff.

<3 Goat - Quicktime rocks.
Yeah this is much better. Thanks Space Face.
Awesome.
You should make it so that it doesn't display for OSX-based browsers, though.

Doesn't? Why would we turn it off for OS X browsers?

My complete disgust and utter disdain for all things QuickTime has caused me to re-write this bbcode tag. It now prefers to use the WMP plugin over QuickTime, assuming your browser supports it. So, QuickTime is now only used when the WMP plugin is not available.
Hopefully this will fix most of the performance issues people were having with the QuickTime plugin. I know it fixed mine.
QuickTime sucks.
Well, I ain't no technical person but it's working for me.

Haha, British slang sounds so weird over the internet.
